The Oregon Conservation Network unites conservation groups around the state in an effort to protect Oregon's environmental heritage in the Oregon Legislature. More than 40 groups are members of OCN, which is a project of the OLCV Education Fund. What follows are the latest postings of news and other information about OCN's Priorites for a Healthy Oregon in the 2007 Legislature.
Oregon Priorities
March 4 - Staffing Changes at OLCV [from SalemWatch]  OLCV's Legislative Affairs Director, Sybil Ackerman, left OLCV last week to become the Executive Director of the Lazar Foundation. She is replaced by Evan Manvel, who brings over a decade of experience working with groups including the Corvallis Environmental Center, 1000 Friends of Oregon, and Bicycle Transportation Alliance. Evan is looking forward to moving the environmental agenda forward in the 2009 Legislative Session and beyond.
March 4 - Land Use in Action [from SalemWatch]  The "Big Look" Task Force received funding during the Special Session for a work plan to engage more than 10,000 Oregonians and inform 1.2 million people.
March 4 - Supplemental Session Wrap-Up [from SalemWatch]  The February Supplemental Session ended on Friday, February 22, after only three weeks.
April 9 - Environmental Groups: It's the Land Use, Stupid! [from SalemWatch]  Transportation makes up over a third of Oregon's greenhouse gas emissions. And one of the best ways to reduce the amount people drive is changing land use patterns.
