Media Advisory: Summer Conversation Series wrapping up
One forum left in Clackamas County as part of a statewide series on clean energy, jobs, balanced growth and reducing exposure to toxics
Clackamas County—Only one opportunity remains for Clackamas County residents to participate in the Summer Conversation Series. The statewide series of forums has been organized by the Oregon League of Conservation Voters Education Fund as a way for community members to discuss key environmental and economic issues and develop broadly supported environmental priorities for Oregon’s 2011 Legislative Session. Oregon State Senator Martha Schrader is attending all three discussions in Clackamas County.
All community members are encouraged to attend and participate, and there is no cost for admission. Each conversation focuses on only one topic. The first forum in Clackamas County centered around job creation through the use of renewable energy made in the USA. Last week’s discussion focused on reducing Oregonians’ exposure to dangerous toxics. These conversations have been lively, engaging, interesting and fun.
Next week, on August 18, the series wraps up in Clackamas County with a conversation about balanced growth that protects our communities in the wake of the BP disaster.
These issues top the list of environmental concerns for Oregonians. The forums are each one-hour conversations facilitated by respected community leaders and featuring topic-relevant experts from partner groups: 1000 Friends of Oregon, Environment Oregon, The Oregon Environmental Council, and The Renewable Northwest Project.
