2010 Special Session: The Oregon Conservation Network's Priorities for a Healthy Oregon

Oregon's 2010 special legislative session began February 1 and lasted less than four weeks. During the session the Oregon Conservation Network won on two of its three Priorities for a Healthy Oregon:

(1) Protect our children from Bisphenol A (BPA)

Loss: Failed on Senate floor

Ban Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical found in plastics that has been linked to negative health effects, from baby bottles and children's food containers sold in Oregon. Read more.

(2) Build livable communities across Oregon

Victory: On Governor's desk

Direct Oregon's six major metropolitan areas to develop plans to broaden transportation choices while meeting greenhouse-gas reduction targets. Read more.

(3) Protect Oregon's coast from oil and gas exploration

Victory: On Governor's desk

Make permanent the moratorium on drilling for oil and gas in Oregon's coastal waters that expired at the beginning of this year. Read more.
